the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells.the complex of DNA and proteins contained in the nucleus, known as chromatin, condenses.
Prophase
a stage during the process of cell division (mitosis or meiosis). Normally, individual chromosomes are spread out in the cell nucleus. During metaphase, the nucleus dissolves and the cell's chromosomes condense and move together, aligning in the center of the dividing cell.
Metaphase
the sister chromatids separate from each other and are pulled towards opposite ends of the cell. The protein “glue” that holds the sister chromatids together is broken down, allowing them to separate. Each is now its own chromosome. The chromosomes of each pair are pulled towards opposite ends of the cell.
Anaphase
final stage of mitosis, where chromatin starts to form again, nuclear membrane starts to develop, and prepares for cytokinesis
Telophase
produces the secondary tissue that function primarily in support and conduction
Vascular cambium
underground organs that store starches
Tubers
secondary plant stem that extends horizontally
Rhizome
branching structures that extend into the spaces in the soil
Roots
