The child’s striving for new and more activity- oriented experiences places two demands—a demand for self-control and acceptance of control from others
Autonomy vs Shame and Doubt
The adult is now prepared and willing to unite their identity with others. The adult seeks relationships of intimacy, partnership and affiliation
Intimacy vs Isolation
At this stage, the child must submit to controlling its imagination and setting down to formal education. Interest in toys is superseded by an interest in productive situations and the tools used for work—attending school, sports etc
Industry vs Inferiority
The individual begins to form his own identity, that there is a unique human being yet also prepared to fit in a meaningful role in society
Identity vs Identity/ Role Confusion
This stage is characterized by the presence of progeny, products, ideas and so forth—and the setting forth of guidelines for upcoming generations
Generativity vs Stagnation
Integrity is a state one reaches after having taken care of things and people generated products and ideas and having adapted to the successes and failures of existence.
